The ideal cut diamond describes a round brilliant diamond that has been cut to exact and mathematical proportions. It’s symmetry, with 58 exactly placed facets, produces the ultimate in lustre and beauty.
Color is a measure of the amount of color in the diamond. Although various colors can be found, the white diamond remains the most desirable. Diamonds which exhibit yellowish tints are considered lower quality stones. Colored diamonds such as blue, green, red and pink are most likely more valuable due to their rarity.

Clarity is the measure of how clear a diamond is. The number, size, nature and location of both the internal and external imperfections is used to determine clarity.
The Gemological Institute of America has established a scale for rating clarity:
A carat meaures the weight of a diamond. Carats are subdivided into a 100 points system (0.01 carat = l point). One carat is equal to 0.20 grams. The larger the carat weight of a diamond, the greater its value/carat. For example, a 3-carat diamond is worth more than 3 1-carat diamonds.
